Month of Fitness Day 7
Well, I didn’t do a workout video today, but that’s totally fine. I loaded up the family, and we hiked for about an hour at the Falls of the Ohio. It’s slow-going there because exposed fossil beds do not make for an easy walk, but that’s fine. I really love the concept of working out some different way every day for a month, so your body never knows what to expect next. As I recall, it worked for Brad Pitt before Fight Club. Why not me?
It was only 85 degrees out, but with humidity and heat retention on the fossil beds, the sign at the Center said that temps on the rocks were 20 degrees higher. Of course, we didn’t notice that until after we’d ascended 3 flights of steps, sweat pouring off all of us, having successfully discovered many a fossilized critter or plant.
What? I look amazing. Shut up.
The boys are always discovering “dinosaurs” there. I don’t have the heart to correct them. Close enough, kids!
While we were in line at McD’s for rehydration necessities (3 buckets of Powerade, 2 teas, 1 water please!), Tim’s phone went off. Some little animated guy was doing a dance and celebrating that he had met his goal of activity for the day. His bracelet also lit up the word “GOAL!”
What’s this, you ask?
Well, for his birthday, Tim’s latest gadget is one of these:
I’m honestly thinking about getting one of my own. Tim loves his. It really does seem to be motivating him.
He does want me to note that it doesn’t register movement if you’re just pushing a stroller. I suggested maybe next time he attach it to a beltloop, if his hands are going to be stationary!
Pretty cool for both of us to be motivated to get healthier this month. We’re both overdue, but I guess you can’t do everything at once that you want to do, can you?
So, yeah, that’s Workout Day 7. No vid today! I’ll try and find another ab-working one tomorrow.
